Etiquette Cycling, as our name suggests, strives to promote the ethos of considerate cycling.
We aim to promote good practice in everything that we do both on and off the bike.
Etiquette Cycling was the idea of Chris and Simon who both bought family holiday homes in the Region of Murcia. They soon decided that they wanted to live here permanently and introduce others to this little known corner of Spain.
Chris worked in the UK cycling industry for over 8 years (Cycling UK and London Cycling Campaign).
Turning 45 and with a now or never approach Chris started racing. Quickly out of cat 4 he achieved his goal of reaching and maintaining cat 2 status. He has also qualified as a British Cycling Level 2 Coach.
Chris has toured extensively across Western Europe and is excited about spreading the word on the joys of cycling in the South East of Spain.
Simon developed an interest in endurance sports during his 23 years in the Royal Air Force completing many mountain marathons, ocean swims and Iron-distance triathlons.
More recently he has focussed on middle distance triathlons representing the Great Britain Age Group Team at the European Championships on 5 occasions.
He is a competent Spanish speaker and a qualified cycle mechanic.
At Etiquette Cycling we value:
- Showing respect to all group members as individuals (regardless of ability/background)
- Showing respect to all road users and the environment
- Supporting local businesses
Most of all, we believe that cycling should be fun for all.
