Best Road Bike Hire Choice

Etiquette Cycling considered carefully, which road bikes are best suited for our bike hire and cycling holiday riders.  The Cannondale road bike option came out on top for us and customer feedback reinforces our choice…

What were we looking for?

From the outset, we were looking for the best bikes available which our riders would thoroughly enjoy riding.  

We wanted a higher end road bike which had a great specification, a turn of speed and is built for comfort.  We perhaps didn’t want the ‘all out racing bike’ where comfort is sometimes compromised.

What are our riders looking for?

Our road bike riders are looking for a number of attributes, which include some or all of the following:

Mirroring, or better than, the bike they have at home

Di2 a must have or they are looking forward to trying

Disc brake a must have or again they are looking forward to trying

Comfortable ride yet with a turn of speed

A bike which is suitable for one or two climbs along the way

And a stylish good looking bike

What did we choose?

Following our considered approach, it became readily apparent that Cannondale offered a potentially ideal solution.  Consequently, we decided upon the Cannondale Synapse Disc Ultegra Di2:

The relaxed geometry of the bike is ideal for long days out whilst the wide (28 mm tyres) protect you from any bumps in the road.  Our ultimate test was a hilly 200km audax where the bikes performed admirably.

The Di2 electronic shifters are a dream; you only appreciate how good when you're forced to use traditional shifters.

The 11-34, 11-speed cassette will enable you to make light work of the biggest climbs that Murcia can throw at you.

The powerful disc brakes will give you confidence on technical descents.

Nevertheless this is a light responsive bike which can hold its own when the pace increases.

Was it the right choice?
